Experimentation is what moves me. I started collecting clay as a game, and got hooked to it.
The research for clays that fits my criteria of resistance to high temperatures, workability and beauty is not easy, but extremely rewarding: it allows me to work with unique materials, with their pro and cons, and I try to exalt those intrinsic characteristics.
The clay is then prepared to be thrown, a long but necessary path. Then the fun begins: altering the cylinder shape on the wheel, to make each piece a result of the moment, each touch to the wet clay records that instant forever.
The pieces are then glazed, with mixtures that I prepare from raw materials.
The firing is the final and crucial part of this long journey. To give as much character as possible to my pieces, I choose atmospheric firings, usually wood firings or gas/soda. This creates peculiar and unrepeatable surfaces.
Every piece is made to be used, so you can experience its beauty every day.
